A Better Kind of Me is the second song that I've written and put on YouTube and later released. This song is meaningful to me as it highlights the importance of the friends and family in our lives and how we should make them a priority throughout our lives. A good friend is absolutely irreplaceable and I have so many regrets as I’ve realized that I’ve done a really bad job of staying in touch with friends in my life. I moved from Alabama to California, and changed jobs and social circles, and realize very few of those people I even talk to anymore. If you are one of those people, from the bottom of my heart I am so sorry and I’m going to try to do better from here on out. This song helping me commit to this goal of treating everyone in my live with the utmost love and priority. Please apply it to your lives and if you ever see me at 15th street Del Mar at first ligth, don’t hesitate to come hug me or shake my hand (between waves of course), and if I ever drop in on you in the surf, for that I’m very sorry also and please forgive me.
Positive change in the world can happen when we all realize collectively that change starts with each of us and we can choose to love others like we love ourselves. Please enjoy, A Better Kind of Me.
Lyrics
A Better Kind of Me (Key of D)
Verse 1: G A F#m Bm
I’m starting to think about my life, the one’s I’ve known and I realize.
That I let some go, and that’s just not right and that I would just change if I could turn back the time
I wouldn’t lose touch with one single friend, when new chapters start, I’d welcome them in.
I’d come to see it’s not about me, and I’d be a better kind of me.
Chorus: D A Bm G
I’m looking at the world and this I see. We’ve lost sight of what we’re supposed to be.
When I am here for you and you’re here for me then I’ll be a better kind of me.
And as we move on and we start to see, the ones in our lives as priority.
And I begin to love them like I love me, then I’ll be a better kind of me.
Verse 2: G A F#m Bm
I need to know it’s not too late to make a change and start today
I will hold on to friends that I’ve made, find those that I’ve lost along the way
Tell them I’m sorry that I failed to see how much their friendship meant to me
Starting right now, it’s not about me, yeah, this world needs a better kind of me.
Woah, A better kind of me. Woah.
Bridge
G A Bm A
Pick up the phone. Talk about the path we’re on, Until we all get home, you and me, we are not alone.
