Change Starts with Me is the first song that I've written and released. It was written November 2023 in my home office. I was released on 1/3/2024 and it is the very first song I've put on YouTube starting off. This song is meaningful to me as it highlights one of the things that we all deal with on a daily basis. We live in a wonderful world here but we are confronted on a daily basis by things that seem wrong, inconsiderate, selfish, or just unfair and if you are like me, you often voice your complaints and talk about what this person or this company, or that government should do to fix the error of the situation. What I fail to do most often in these situations is realize that I'm often part of the problem.
I'm no longer a super young man and this song captures the beginning of something that I'd like to give a chance to blossom and be bigger than me or what I want. I wrote this song after I realized I have put my love of music and need to share it with others on the backburner for so many years pursing my day job and all of life's other distractions. I’d never used a Digital Audio Workstation when I wrote this song but after writing it came somewriting, guitar improvement, learning to speak and perform in front of a camera and upload to YouTube and TikTok
Other history on the song is that I went to an expensive recording studio when I first wrote the song and they wanted $1200-$1500 for me to record the song in their studio with other musicians. That just didn’t seem the most cost-effective way to go with my first song so I decided to just first share the song with others on YouTube.
The song highlights that I, me, we, can decide to treat people better, be less selfish, try to put others needs above our own, be more interested in other's lives, be better moms, dads, husbands and wives, and so forth.
Please do listen and enjoy this video. It's raw and super light on any production quality because that's the most authentic way for me to start sharing my music with others. Don't treat it as any type of judgement or call to extensive measures to change your entire life or give away everything you have as you have responsibility and influence right where you are. It's a song for you, me, and us all, for us to have the realization that as we go about our day, and interact with those around us at work or at home or in our family, that little acts of kindness can go a long way and in aggregate can change the world around us. So, that's what I mean when I say, "Change Starts with Me". It means that positive change in the world can happen when we all realize collectively that change starts with each of us. @Jeremy Rasch
